Meet and Greet staff will spend most of their time stationed at the Welcome Center which is the arrival point for any Guests arriving into Niseko-Hirafu by bus. Start date: Early December 2019

Ski Powder Paul Lr Crop

Job Description

Below is a brief description of what you would be doing on a day to day basis. This is not a comprehensive list, but it is what you would generally be doing:

Manning the Welcome Center from around 2 pm to around 8pm (dependent on the number of arrivals that day). Please note that unlike other positions the Meet and Greet position will work 6 days per week. However the start time for Meet and Greet staff will generally be in the afternoon with only occasional morning starts.

Meet and Greet staff would come into the office before going to the Welcome Center and liaise with the Duty Manager to find out the details of the arrivals that day

Meet and Greet staff would then liaise with Ki Niseko (our sister company) and find out the same details of their arrivals.

Meet and Greet staff would then go to the Welcome Center and meet and greet any arrivals for Niseko Central and Ki Niseko. There will often be a number of different groups arriving on the same bus transfer from the airport so Meet and Greet staff must take control of often large groups of people answering any questions they might have about Niseko Central or Niseko-Hirafu.

Meet and Greet staff will also keep the Duty Manager updated with any trends in bus arrival time (e.g. if buses are arriving typically late or early due to weather conditions).

The Meet and Greet staff will liaise with the bus operator staff as needed to report to the office on any matters involving Guests arriving or departing on buses.

Meet and Greet staff are the face of Niseko Central and Ki Niseko at the Welcome Center so any Guest (regardless of whether they are staying with Niseko Central or not) must be treated professionally with help being given whenever operationally possible.

As with any Niseko Central position, Meet and Greet staff will be expected to help out the rest of the team with any arising matters as work over the day progresses.

Employment Period

  • Early December 2019 to 30 March 2020
  • We start our staff with training to give you all you need to know about working for Niseko Central!
  • Guaranteed work until end of contract, with the potential to extend pending work availability

  • Generally 5 days per week, around 40 hours per week
  • This is likely to be higher during peak season (including some weeks where you may be required to work 6 days) and a little quieter during the start and ends of the season

Job Benefits

Accommodation

  • Each of our accommodations is subsidised to bring you housing at an affordable price!
  • Twin shares (doubles for couples), triple or quad shares in a range of locations to suit various budgets

Lift Passes - Your choice of either:

  • A Free Grand Hirafu season lift pass
  • Most companies will give staff access to shared Grand Hirafu passes, these are usually kept at work so it may stop you getting first lifts on powder days! Shared passes also cannot be upgraded to All Mountain passes (unless everyone sharing the pass agrees to it). Working for Niseko Central means your pass can live in your snowboard jacket and gives you the opportunity to pay to upgrade your pass to cover All Mountain at cost!
  • To keep everything fair, for those of you who don't want a lift pass you will be offered instead a ¥20,000 payment to offset the subsidisation those taking lift passes receive

Bi-monthly pay

  • Receive your pay every 2 weeks!
  • Most companies pay monthly which can leave you eating into your savings at the start of the season

Cost price on HTM-delivered services

  • Please see our website for more details on what we book, but this could include things like snowmobiling, back country tours, freestyle ski/snowboard lessons, transfers and car rental
  • Car rental is always very popular, 4 seater cars for around ¥5,000 mean you can explore Hokkaido and what the nearby resorts have to offer!

Free ski or snowboard lessons

  • Free ski/snowboard group lessons (availability dependent)

Potential Sponsorship in the future

  • For most people in town, Japan is a one-time affair; 1 working holiday visa and you're done!
  • For the best performing seasonal staff Niseko Central will want you back!
  • We would look to sponsor you for future seasons (provided you meet the sponsorship criteria). Typically we sponsor between 4-8 people per season, some of these end up becoming full-time staff and stay with us year round!
  • Niseko Central is a company growing year on year. For those of you with the right commitment there are opportunities for permanent employment with Niseko Central. Do you want Niseko to be your next permanent home?
