Niseko has enjoyed a sensational start to to 2016, with 240 cm falling in the first 19 days of January and plenty more in the forecast. The recent snow storms bring the season's cumulative total to 571 cm – an impressive figure after what was regarded a slow start to December.

Mountainwatch is reporting an additional 42 cm over the next three days and 63 cm over the course of the week. High winds are expected to persist until Thursday night, and very cold temperatures to continue through to the end of the week, according to snow-forecast.com.
